昨天和今天碰到日志不能发布的问题。出现这样的错误 “Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded……” 因为在艾米的网志和桑林志上同时碰到，而且之前一直没有问题，所以以为是 Dreamhost 的事情。后来在 WordPress 搜索到类似的报告，才了解到这是 WordPress 2.5.1 特有的 bug。
这个错误，只当你的日志标题与以前某个日志标题相同时出现。所以解决办法：1、参考这里；2、如果前一个办法太技术了，那么当你碰到这个问题时，可以先修改一下标题，顺利发布后再修改过来。
艾米和我在同一天写的日志的标题都与以前的标题重复，这个事情比较古怪。：）

03 年，因为即将出生的孩子，考虑再操旧业做做个人主页的时候，在网上做了些调查研究。首先注意到的是 blogger.com，用 FTP 发布到 Yahoo BB 提供的免费主页空间上，觉得真是方便。但没过多久就不满足了，我需要有更多控制才好玩。
然后找到了 pMachine，好像是从 CooCooWakka 的作者 CooYip 那里学来的。折腾了一阵子后，觉得不爽，然后才换到了 WordPress。pMachine 现在都已经停止开发了。
已经不记得是从哪儿了解到 WordPress 的了，但不管如何，从此就一直使用 WordPress 了。换到 WordPress 时是 2003 年 11 月 8 日，改变 WordPress 历史的 0.72 版本刚释出不久。跟随 WordPress 的开发进程，期间碰到过不少问题，主要是本地化的问题，有些在桑林志有纪录。不少 MoverableType 的用户，比如车东，不时来劝说改投 MT 门下，但偶不为所动。：）
早期中文 WordPress 世界
在我之前，已经有不少使用 WordPress 的中文用户。其中，台湾的 Zonble 对中文 WordPress 的早期发展推广，影响最大。当时 WordPress 还没有成型的本地化机制，Zonble 几乎每有新 WP 版本推出，就释出相应的中文化版本。他还给出了许多 hack，来解决中文 WP 碰到的问题。
大陆方面，我知道有 eqiao，比我更早使用 WP。他的 blog 叫，峨桥，不是一座桥。现在已经归隐了。早期中文网志圈里非常出名的中国茶，就是 eqiao 提供的技术支持，使用 WordPress。
有一个不能不提的事件是 Eric Nash 曾经组织过一个 WordPress 简体中文站，放在文心的 weciti 上。后来 dotann 也加入成为主要贡献者。weciti cnwp 一段时间内非常活跃，推出过 WordPress 汉化文档。后来慢慢怠倦，最后 weciti 的一次故障，这一切就烟消云散了。
时间上稍有重叠的，我做过一个中文 WordPress Planet，自动聚合中文 WordPress 用户的心得。后来因为空间资源的压力，再加上有不少中文 WordPress 专门站点出现，就把它下线了。
中文 blogger 中，谁最先见过 Matt？
72 松 的 kingler 和 AsceticMonk 前一阵子去参加了 WordCamp，见到了WP的 开发人员。那中文 blogger 中，谁是最先见到 Matt 的人呢？我觉得是文心。：）
那次会议回来后，文心曾经考虑过把他的 blog 转移到 WordPress，但最后也没有做，现在连 blog 都已经干涸。

WordPress 的早期乐趣
一直说，blogging 的一半乐趣来自摆弄 blog 程序，这种乐趣在 WordPress 早期更为明显。因为有缺陷，因为有不足，才促使人深入其代码，让纯粹的业余爱好者也能享受 hacking 的乐趣。
早期的 WordPress 没有 plugins，只有 my-hacks.php 文件。要想改进 WordPress，就得把代码放入这个文件里。后来 WP 才象大程序一样引入 plugin 的概念。
早期的 WordPress 没有 widgets 功能，要改变页面显示，你就得修改模板。这里面有很多乐趣。后来，WP 才学习 drupal 的 block 功能，引入 widgets。这样子使用者可以在后台进行简单拖放来修改边栏的内容。
我至今还觉得这个 widget 对独立单用户 wordpress 没什么用处。不过它对 WordPress Mu 来说是非常重要的。
WordPress 的脉络
WordPress 是作为 b2/cafelog 一个分支发展起来的。同为 b2/cafelog 分支的还有 b2evolution。
WordPress 有一个官方多用户版本：WordPress Mu。同为基于 WordPress 的多用户版本有 Lyceum，采用不同的数据库策略。
WordPress 还开发一个论坛程序 bbPress。
WordPress 主要开发者 Matt 创办了一个公司 Automattic。
Automattic 有个反垃圾留言服务 akismet，是个独立于 WordPress 的服务。有 API，可在众多程序中使用。
Automattic 有个 WordPress blog 服务 wordpress.com。
Automattic 集内容发布（wordpress.org, wordpress.com）及内容筛选（akismet）于一身，加上年轻的 Matt，让人想起当初的 Bill Gates 和 Larry Page，Sergey Brin，再加上以及全世界范围内众多热心的开发者和用户，极有可能成为一家伟大的公司。
八卦的目的
罗罗嗦嗦，最后不知道原本要说啥了。只知道写这个帖子的促因，是一周后在北京的中文 wordpress 聚会。WordPress 使用者们，趁此时机，真应该多八卦一下 WordPress。
前一阵子看七十二松的 kingler 和 AsceticMonk 去参加 WordCamp 2007，把我羡慕得不行。作为 WordPress 的老用户和粉丝，我还是很希望能见一见 Matt 等 WordPress 主要开发人员，并和同样喜欢 WordPress 的人交流交流的。
WordCamp 2007 回来后，kingler 等人就开始策划在北京进行一次 WordPress 用户聚会。这次聚会由 CBN 和七十二松主办，WordPress 中文论坛协办。日程还在商定中……（更新：现在访问 WordPress Camp Beijing 2007 的主页，你可以看到比较详细的内容。）
我还是不可能去参加。提前祝聚会成功，大家玩得愉快吧。
另外，前不久 WordPress 推出了一款T恤衫，大红的颜色，并不适合我，但也让我流了半天口水。9.5 英镑，加 4.5 英镑运费，没舍得买。:P
Twitter （介绍）这么热，发现已经有好几个 WordPress 插件了：Twitter Tools，Twitt-Twoo，Twitter Updater。twitter 爱好者可以试试。似乎第一个最强大，第二个界面比较漂亮，第三个就很普通了。

升级到 WordPress 2.1x 后碰到的第一个严重问题是 tagging 插件出现了问题。我用的是 Jerome’s Keywords，1.9 版本，问题的症状是，每次有人评论，该贴原来设定的 tag 就被清空。只好去插件的主页寻找解决办法。
偶然发现以前给 Jerome’s Keywords 做了个相关帖子增强的 Michael Woehrer，在 Jerome’s Keywords 的基础上制作了自己的 tagging 插件叫：Simple Tagging。
这个 Simple Tagging 插件不 Simple。
1. 可以从 UTW 或者 Jerome’s Keywords 导入 tags；
2. 有 tag 推荐功能（写帖子后你可以先保存一下，它会依据内容建议 tag，我觉得还挺准的）；
3. 显示帖子的 tags；
4. tag 云；
5. 显示相关帖子；
6. 和 del.icio.us 一样显示相关 tags；
7. 把 tags 和分类作为 meta keywords 添加到网页头里去；
7. 把 tags 作为分类添加到 feed 里；
8. 比较强大的 tag 管理能力；
8. 支持嵌入式 tag ([tags]tag1, tag2, tag3[/tags])，这样子即使用外部的 blog 应用程序写 blog 也可以添加 tags 了。
很自然地，我切换到了这个 tagging 插件，感觉很不错。
只是桑林志在 tag 方面做过不少 hacking，切换插件的过程还是费了点时间。
