It’s done! It is a work of art
\nOr science, I should say;
\nThis paper on my brave new work,
\nI’ll send it out today.<\/p>\nA month has passed; now it’s two.
\nNow six, now eight, and no review.
\nAfter a year, I get a note,
\nto cause staid me to emote.
\nIt said thus (am I relieved!)
\n“Your paper, sir, has been received.”<\/p>\nAgain I wait, again I fear,
\nAgain a note that takes a year.
\n“According to our reviews four,
\nResubmit and try once more.
\nYou’ve gone where angels fear to tread,
\nbut your work stinks. Sincerely, Ed.”<\/p>\nShocked and hurt by this foul news,
\nI cringe and read my four reviews.
\nReviewer A: “’tis nothing new,
\nI did this back in ’52.”
\nReviewer B: “’tis empty fluff,
\nNo one cares ’bout this strange stuff.”
\nReviewer C: “’tis wondrous new,
\nBut your treatment is askew.”
\nReviewer D: “I say accept!
\nIt’s new, bijou, and quite adept!”<\/p>\nPerplexed am I, beyond belief.
\nSo I consult the Ed.-in-chief.
\n“Oh,” said he, “reveiwer D
\nwe dropped, and took the other three.”
\n“But wait,” said I, “they all conflict!”
