Shizhao came to a good point about the difference on the understanding of fair play between Chinese and westerner.
For example, in Chinese martial art (wushu), we say everyone has the same right to join a competition, regardless of height, weight, sex, and even with or without weapon. Fairness focuses on the right to play. For western sports, fair play means playing with same condition.
This difference may be the origin of many conflicts between Chinese and western countries, and also the origin of some social problems now in China.
