I have come back from the Advanced Solid State Photonics, 2005, Vienna, Austria. It is named with Photonics, but actually most presentations are on lasers. The conference committee had tried to attract contributions from scientists in broader field of Photonics. I can see their efforts from the invited papers. Anyway, it is a very good conference for scientists in field of solid state or fiber lasers, it is very concentrated and intensive.
